How to thicken your relaxed hair: Castor oil on relaxed hair?

How can I thicken my relaxed hair? Which hair products thicken hair? Which products are good for thickening relaxed hair? Are there any natural or safe products for thickening relaxed hair?
My before and after using castor oil daily

Castor oil! Castor oil! Castor oil!
I and many other relaxed heads (naturals too) have used and found success with castor oil.

Jamaican Black Castor Oil is a well know brand often used for relaxed and natural hair. Many people have reported major hair growth and thickening experiences with it.
I used normal golden brownish castor oil and had just as awesome results so I don't think it matters as much which brand you use.

How do I use castor oil on my hair?
There are many ways of applying castor oil to your hair and not one fixed way that you have to do it. here are a few tips on what usually works best:
  • Castor oil is usually quite thick: a good tip would be to heat it up a little before using it in order to thin it out a bit.
  • Castor oil is also an insulator so it keeps moisture locked in. It's important that you make sure that your hair is well moisturised prior to applying it. Either do it right after washing your hair or moisturise your hair thoroughly and then apply it. You can learn how to moisturise your hair here. Another idea would be to use a water spray to lightly spray your hair first.
  • Castor oil (if you're using the natural kind without any fragrance added) can be a little weird smelling - in order to naturally enhance the smell mix in a little nice smelling oil like grape seed or coconut oil.
  • Castor oil will weigh your hair down so it may not be the best idea to apply it on a day that you'd like to have body in your hair. if you're wearing a firm style or upstyle then it wouldn't really matter.
  • A good time to apply it especially taking the above into consideration would be at night before bedtime. You'll give your scalp a chance to absorb it and for it to sink into your hair. If you can, applying some in the morning as well if you're going to be having a protective or up hairstyle could be even better - twice a day is even better than once.
  • Massage the castor Oil into your scalp when you apply it - castor oil is also very good for hair growth and breakage.
